From 24 through 27 October. The different facets of an antique, yet contemporary art

JVF

24 to 27 October 2019: welcome the first Milan Jewelry Week, the new event in Milan entirely dedicated to the world of jewelry. Around 50 events will take place in high jewelry ateliers, goldsmith workshops, academies, schools, art galleries, fashion boutiques and design showrooms in the city center, filling up the calendar and bringing closer to this fascinating world all lovers of beauty and handmade products. Group and personal exhibitions, exhibitions of galleries and international schools, workshops, performances, temporary shops and awards ceremonies will contribute to giving multi-faceted interpretations of the history and techniques of the gold art, demonstrating their timelessness and, therefore, their contemporary essence. Today more than ever the connection between the world of jewelry and that of fashion and design is evident. The market is recognizing the importance of ethics in the production chain. And it is precisely through the elaboration of these and other themes that Milan Jewelry Week will give life to moments of exchange, restoring a fascinating and accessible image of jewels, drawing the attention even of those who are no specialists.

Among the group exhibitions, a prominent role will be played by Artistar Jewels 2019 Fall Edition, an international landmark event dedicated to body ornaments now in its seventh edition. The event hosted in its past editions important designers, such as Giancarlo Montebello, Philip Sajet, Yoko Ono, Pol Bury, Faust Cardinals and Gillo Dorfles. The creations of over 160 international artists and designers will be in the spotlight at Palazzo Bovara in Corso Venezia 51. Two more events, not to miss, will also be held at Palazzo Bovara: Schmuckgalerie Silbermann, which will bring a taste of “in flux” – a surprising show that debuted on the occasion of the Munich Jewellery Week 2019 – in which 12 pieces by Edwin Charmain, Katharina Kraus, Elisavet Messi and Lingjun Sun will give rise to a conversation about the evolution of gold craftsmanship and will investigate the current opportunities, and Assemblage – National Contemporary Jewelry Association (Romania) which will present BELONGING / S, a special interactive project of jewelry and photography. The calendar of the Milan Jewelry Week events is available on the Milanojewelryweek.com website.
